Bulk Liquid Storage

OSD’s Role

  • Concept
  • Detailed Design
  • Procurement Services
  • Construction Support

Wilmar Gavilon’s conversion of the old Brisbane Sugar Terminal at Murarrie on the Brisbane River included a 10,000T bulk liquid storage facility to enable the export of tallow and import vegetable oil via the existing facility’s grain wharf.

Saunders International Limited initially engaged OSD (then GWB Engineering) to complete the design of the piping and structures associated with the terminal, while Saunders project managed, designed & constructed the 10 tanks. Wilmar Gavilon later took over the project management from Saunders with OSD continuing the design and providing project engineering and procurement support.

Our role included:

All mechanical, civil, structural, process, electrical and instrumentation engineering and drafting. Over 700 drawings produced.

Redevelopment of a site used for a number of different industries since the early 1900’s provided some unique challenges. Restrictions within the design caused by site layout, existing services (underground HV cable and marine navigation markers) and wharf operations, resulted in a site with a relatively small footprint.

OSD’s experienced project team worked within these constraints to successfully deliver the project to the clients satisfaction.
